Kayla has extensive experience working with children and adults of all ages. She has a background in treating trauma-related disorders, depression, anxiety, grief and ADHD. Kayla has also worked as a behavioral specialist supporting children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Counseling with a concentration in marriage, family and child counseling.
Kayla’s clinical work has taken place in non-traditional school and outpatient settings. She has worked in high intensity environments where she has utilized effective crisis management skills to support clients. She has led parent support groups and participated in many IEP meetings and advocacy. Kayla utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, DBT tools with and Trauma Focused CBT.
Kayla is passionate about working with and creating a safe space for BIPOC, 2SLGTBQIAand other marginalized populations. She understands how being part of a marginalized group can result in barriers to achieving and maintaining optimal mental health. Kayla’s approaches therapeutic treatment with her clinical foundation while emphasizing client tenacity. She facilitates positive psychology, humor and therapeutic skills to explore and empower clients by helping them bring insight to already existing values and resiliency to showing how these can be integrated into treatment and inspire client autonomy.
