Amber Loughran, AMFT, Associate Therapist
Amber is passionate about creating a warm, non-judgmental and safe environment for children, adults, and families to make positive changes in their lives. Amber has experience working with ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and complex life transitions. Through her work in earning a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with an emphasis on social justice from UC Santa Cruz and master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis on LGBTQ+ counseling from Santa Clara University, Amber is committed to making a positive difference in our communities. She is rooted in her experience from Gardner Family Health and Santa Clara Unified School District. Amber has worked with children as young as elementary school age, while collaborating with teachers, administrators and parents in supporting young clients with behavioral and mental health plans, i.e. 504 and IEP. Amber has also facilitated skills group for middle school aged children.
Her compassion is evident in connecting with children and families as she draws from multi-faceted therapeutic approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, family systems, art and play therapies. Amber also brings a unique in depth experience with her work with pet loss and other relationship losses/transitions. Amber has a soft and welcoming presence balanced with clarity of strong assessment and treatment skills while focused on client’s goals, driven by evidence, advocacy and therapeutic alliance.
